About Flint Tree Removal
We're a Genesee County tree service built around one unavoidable fact: our canopy is in the middle of the biggest tree crisis Michigan has ever seen, and the work of getting through it is skilled, dangerous, and worth doing right.
Why We Exist
The emerald ash borer arrived in Michigan in 2002 and spent two decades working through the state's roughly 700 million ash trees. Genesee County — which had planted ash heavily after Dutch elm disease took the old street elms — was always going to absorb a disproportionate share of that loss. The result is a countywide backlog of hazardous tree work: dead and dying ash over garages, storm-battered maples, vacant parcels overgrown with volunteer growth, and stumps that should have been ground years ago.
That backlog deserves a specialist, not a guy with a chainsaw and a pickup. Tree work consistently ranks among the most dangerous trades in the country, dead ash are among the most unpredictable trees in the trade, and the difference between a good crew and a cheap one is measured in crushed garages, liability claims, and hospital visits. We built this company to be the crew Genesee County homeowners can hire without holding their breath: insured, equipped, honest about what a tree needs, and accountable when the job's done.
How We Work
- Assessment first, always. Every job starts with an on-site look — free, no pressure — because wood condition, lean, access, and what's under the canopy can't be judged from a photo. You get a firm flat quote that's good for 30 days.
- Honest recommendations, including cheaper ones. If a tree can be saved with pruning, cabling, or (for healthy ash) protective treatment, we say so. A removal we talked you out of is a customer for twenty years; a removal you didn't need is a one-time invoice and a bad taste.
- Insured, documented, accountable. Certificate of insurance before work starts. Written scope. Photos for your insurer after storm work. Equipment sanitized between oaks to respect oak-wilt precautions. MISS DIG 811 called before any grinding. The unglamorous stuff is what separates professionals from hazards.
- Respect for the property and the neighborhood. Ground protection on turf, controlled drops away from beds and fences, reasonable hours on vacant-lot work, and a walkthrough with you before we leave. Flint's neighborhoods have enough to deal with; the tree crew shouldn't add to it.
What We Believe About This Work
Tree removal in Genesee County isn't a story of decline — it's a phase. The county that invented the modern land bank knows a thing or two about turning property around, and the same is true block by block: hazard trees come out, stumps get ground, volunteers get cleared, and deliberate replanting gets its chance. Our job is the unglamorous first half of that story — the safe, professional removal of what's dying and dangerous — done in a way that makes the second half possible. Whether it's one dead ash over your garage or a half-dozen lots you're bringing back, we treat the work as part of the neighborhood's next chapter, not just another invoice.
Where We Work
Our trucks run from a Flint base daily: the city itself — north side, east side, west-side corridors, and the older streetcar neighborhoods — plus Burton, Grand Blanc, Davison, Flushing, and Swartz Creek, with travel for emergencies, multi-tree jobs, and lot clearing across the county line. See service areas for community-by-community notes.
